When
Friday, Sept 28 - Sunday, Sept 30
Fall is just around the corner, so come join Team Green for a long weekend adventure at the Tsali Recreation area in NC! We’ll be heading out for a relaxing weekend of mountain biking, hiking and kayaking/rafting in the beautiful Nantahala National Forest from September 28th through the 30th! Here are the details:
Mountain Biking
Tsali is well known for being one of the premier areas in the country for mountain biking. The Tsali Recreation Area offers a total of 39 miles of some of the most beautiful, yet challenging trails in the south. Overlooking Lake Fontana, the 4 trails range from the 5.3-mile Mouse Branch Loop Trail, to the 11.9-mile long Left Loop Trail.
Hiking
The same trails used for biking and horseback riding are open at all times for hiking. Trail lengths start with the 5.3-mile Mouse Branch Loop Trail, and then increase in distance to the Thompson Loop Trail at 7.4 miles and Right Loop & Left Loop Trails at 11 miles each. In addition, there are multiple hiking trails in the surrounding area such as the Goldmine Loop (3 miles), Deep Creep Loop (4 miles) and Martin’s Gap Loop (12 miles).
Canoing / Kayaking
The Tsali Recreation Area is bordered by Lake Fontana which offers miles of beautiful coves and open water for canoing and kayaking. If you‘re feeling a little more adventurous, ride a shuttle from the NOC up to the Power Plant put in and take the 8 mile stretch through the Nantahala Gorge back to the NOC.
Whitewater Rafting
Led by the Nantahala Outdoor Center, there will be an option to raft on the afternoon of the 29th. The trip offers a three hour rafting trip over the Nantahala’s Class II-III rapids. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED
