We’ll hike up to the tower to take in the great views from there. Afterwards we will make our way back down the Lookout Tower trail to the Chimney Top trail. This 6.6 mile steep and rugged trail is rated strenuous with an elevation gain and loss of 3460 feet. The trail will take us back to the visitor center.
The total length of the hike is about 11.5 miles. The hike is strenuous with many ups and downs thus requiring sturdy hiking boots. Also bring plenty of water and Gatorade, about 1 gallon, snacks and lunch.
