It’s chilly out, but the colors are so beautiful along the Piney River, Team Green just couldn’t resist an Autumn Float. Enjoy this easy 3 hour float down the Piney River on kayak or canoe, and witness the gorgeous fall colors from the bow of your boat. The river is gentle with minor rapids (we’re talking .25 here!) and a breathtaking view of rock formations and cliffs covered in crawling red and orange vines.

About Pinewood Canoe & Camp
After over a decade of paddling along the Piney River, Kathy Brasel bought a piece of land in 1998 which soon became Pinewood Canoe & Camp. Pinewood has gradually grown from a family swimming hole, to a canoe rental, to a canoe and kayak rental, and now has a campground and public access for fishing. During the summer and early in the off season, Canoes rent for $35.00. Kayaks rent for $25.00. Camping is $6.00 per adult and $4.00 for kids under 16. The day visit fee is $3.00 per adult and $2.00 per kids, that is if your are not already camping or floating!
What caught Team Green’s attention? Pinewood Canoe & Camp is one of few outfitters in Tennessee that offers recycling and weekly paddles along the river to pick up trash. It is a small business in Nunnelly, TN owned by Kathy Brasel. Kathy supports recycling and is continually seeking new ways to do her part. Pinewood Canoe and Camp does not currently have a website but you can call them at (931) 729-1042.

Team,
What’s the cost for members who have their own Kayaks?
Is there a tow charge or something?
Hem, the posting shows that it is free if you bring your own boat. However we can only accommodate 10 boats, so please let me know if you need me to reserve you a spot.
so when I click the link “Member Canoe Register” I don’t get an option to sign up. Anyone got any advice on how to sign up for this event?
stop by the General store and say “Hey!”
best b-b-q around.
I apologize for the Member Canoe Registration issue!! We have it fixed now.
excuse my ignorance, but how far away is Nunnelly Tennessee?
Please register me for the Piney River Paddle. I have my own Kayak.
The drive is approximately one hour. I recommend leaving Nashville no later than 10am. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with directions.
Is it too late to camp Sunday night also.. If not, what are my options?
Please register me for the Piney Paddle trip… I have my own Kayak.
thanks…Keith want to car pool ?
Hi Team Greeners!
A few of us are going to camp Fri and Sat nights to make a weekend of the paddle trip. If you have a tent and would like to join, please let me know! We would be going over Friday afternoon (leaving Nashville around 4) to set up before it gets dark. Depending on the number, we could share a site or get neighboring sites.
Is anyone interested in carpooling from Nashville…
A
I am a member and just signed up to kayak. Corey Walthall is not a member, but would like to come and has his own kayak.
I will be there. My own kayak.
Amy, I’ll call you about carpool.
Hey friends,
My wife (Sally) and I are camping out there friday and saturday night, but we were wondering if the float trip would still happen sunday with the most recent forecast calling for the temps to only get up to around 50 degrees that day.
If anybody knows, let us know! Thanks
The plan is to have the float so long as it is not raining. Please bring a change of clothes for after we get out of the water, and if you have a wet suit please wear it. Another option is to line your water shoes with plastic bags so that your feet don’t get wet if we need to drag our boats to deeper water at any time during the float.
