The primary focus of Peru Trek 2009 will be to retrace the steps of the mysterious Incan culture in Peru throughout the endlessly scenic Andes Mountains. Along the way, you will visit breathtaking and awe-inspiring ruins such as Machu Picchu, which is widely considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The four-day trek along the Inca Trail will provide you a firsthand experience of the unique and extensive transportation networks developed throughout the high Andes. The final stop on this trip will be a visit to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the work, which according to Incan mythology is the origin of the Incan Empire.
This presentation will include an overview of the trip itinerary, which includes the coastal capital of Lima, Cuzco, a tour of the Sacred Valley, a four-day trek along the Inca Trail culminating in the arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, and visit to areas within and around Lake Titicaca from both the Peruvian and Bolivian shores. In addition to covering topics specific to the scheduled trip, general information regarding trip planning, travel resources, logistics, and other recommended areas to visit within both Peru and Ecuador will be covered.
