Who is Team Green?
Team Green Adventures was established by Lightning 100 (WRLT 100.1 FM) in 1996 as a way to get our listeners involved in an active lifestyle. Since then, our audience has expanded to other cities and states, with members across the Nation and events across the Globe! Swim Course (1.5k)
The swim course is an open water swim. Wetsuits were allowed in 2006 and 2007 – but we never know what the weather holds!
The swim will be a clockwise swim with the start and finish side by side at a sandy beach area adjacent to the Shady Point area of Nashville Shores. Orange, yellow, and green buoys will define your swim course. There will be 6-7 boats from Emergency Support Services on the outskirts of the course and there will be 12 kayaks handled by lifeguards/first responders and an additional 4-6 kayaks and canoes helping to define the course and offer support as needed. If you are having any trouble, please pump your arm for attention of the kayaks. You can rest on the kayak and proceed with the race as long as you do not move forward with the kayak. If you need to stop the swim, the kayak handler will make sure you get help to get out of the water. We will have different color swim caps available if you feel you need special attention – just ask for a different color at packet pick up. The swim will be conducted as wave starts. The swim wave starts are modeled after the USAT National Championship wave starts, which have proven to provide a good flow of racers onto the bike course for decreased drafting possibilities and increased safety. Just remember, someone has to start in the last wave, we do the best we can to provide the race start that makes sense for everyone while we know it never satisfies every racer. Your race number will be marked on your swim cap at race packet pick up. Be sure to listen for your Wave at the swim start.
Bike Course (44k / 27.5 miles – exact distance to be published)
The bike course will be different for 2008, and hopefully this course will stick! The course is now a one loop course – a mix of some great flats and rolling hills – plan on a mix of long straight sections where you can hammer (~mile 6 to 15 ) and the other sections provide a mix of residential and some rolling hills back up Bell Road to then cross over Percy Priest Dam back to the race site. Bikes and runners will share Bell Road across the Dam for about one mile – bikes will ride to the left headed back across the dam to the Nashville Shores main entrance – runners will be using the Marina Entrance to go onto and off of Bell Road from Nashville Shores Property. Cones will separate bikers from runners.
Run Course (8k / 5 miles)
The run course will be an out-and-back course from Nashville Shores across Percy Priest Dam and back. The run course on Bell Road is closed to traffic except for minimal local traffic. There will be aid stations at approximately each course mile. There is one hill of significance on the run – on Nashville Shores property. This hill is within the first mile and is about 0.4 – 0.5 miles long. The rest of the course is flat across the Percy Priest Dam and back to finish adjacent to the race transition area.
