Who is Team Green?

Team Green Adventures was established by Lightning 100 (WRLT 100.1 FM) in 1996 as a way to get our listeners involved in an active lifestyle. Since then, our audience has expanded to other cities and states, with members across the Nation and events across the Globe! Through adventure we promote health, community service, and environmental awareness. Check out our calendar and pick the adventure that’s right for you!

What to Expect

Participants will learn about racing shells and will get out on the water in a shell for a row with experienced rowers and coaches. We have three 8-seater boats, allowing room for 6 participants with two experienced rowers in each boat. These first sessions are not very vigorous or physically taxing, as beginning rowers need several sessions to bring their technique to a level that will enable them to fully exert themselves in the boat.

Participants should be comfortable being on the water, should have a modest swimming capability (which we will do our darndest to make sure they don’t need!) and will be asked to sign a liability waiver at the lake. Participants under age 18 will need the signature of their parent or guardian. Participants should bring drinking water so they will remain hydrated. Lastly, participants should bring socks for when they are in the boats, but should also bring water shoes or sandals, as lake levels sometimes rise and cause us to have a small wade to launch the boats.

About Nashville Rowing Club

The Nashville Rowing Club was founded in 1988 by a handful of local rowers. In the Spring of 2008 a new group of rowers decided to grow the club and take rowing in the Nashville area to a new level. Through the acquisition of boats and equipment, and by offering learn to row classes, the club membership is now approaching 50 members. The club offers weekly rowing sessions in several types of boats for both recreational and competitive rowers. These sessions are typically held after work on weekdays and on Saturday mornings. Competitions are held on a regular basis around the Southeast U.S. for rowers of all skill and age levels. Anyone who wishes to compete can do so, but the club also welcomes those who want to join only for the exercise. Rowing is a sport which pursues speed through teamwork, high cardio-vascular fitness, and the perfection of the rowing stroke, but can also offer peaceful moments on the water in which to enjoy nature and the great outdoors.
