GA MOUNTAIN HIKE-INN WEEKEND GETAWAY
Details
When
Saturday, August 30th to Monday, September 1
Join us Labor Day Weekend for a peaceful getaway in the Georgia Mountains. We will be staying at an inn that is only accessible by foot. The hike in is a moderate 5 miles to The Len Foote Hike Inn. Spend Saturday/ Sunday evenings immersed in nature, then hike out Monday and head back to civilization.
The Inn at Amicalola State Park
The Inn at Amicalola Falls State Park is one of the newest and most unique of Georgia’s state park facilities. If you enjoy wilderness hiking but prefer a soft bed, hot showers, and great food instead of camping, the Hike Inn is for you.
The Inn is accessible only by foot over a moderate 5 mile hiking trail which originates at the top of the Amicalola Falls. The hike takes from 2 to 4 hours. You only need to bring your personal items, including layered clothing, hiking boots, extra socks, rain gear, toiletries, water (for the trail), sunscreen, insect repellent, first aid kit and flashlight. Please, no pets, cell phones, beepers, or radios… this is a getaway afterall!
Activities
After arrival at the Hike Inn, you can settle in and begin exploring. Cold and hot drinks are available in the dining room.
Dinner and breakfast are served family style. Educational and entertaining programs are conducted in the Sunrise Room after dinner most evenings. Programs consist of everything from worm composting to storytelling. Books and games are also available. The Sunrise Room (as you would expect from the name!) is an excellent place to observe the sunrise in the morning.
We will drive up Saturday morning, hike-inn to the lodge, tour the lodge then enjoy dinner. On Sunday we will wake to a home cooked meal, hike to Springer Mountain, terminus of the Appalachian Trail, and back for approx 8-9 miles, then relax the rest of the day and enjoy another home-cooked meal. Monday morning we will hike out to the trail head and visit the falls on our way home.
Registration / Pricing
This trip is open to MEMBERS ONLY. Spots are very limited to only 19 spots. Price for the weekend including dinners and breakfasts and 2 nights lodging with double occupancy is $135.00
No refunds after August 15th.
Join Team Green and join in the fun!

The “When” says Saturday to Monday, but the “Details” say Friday to Sunday. Which is it?
The event is Saturday through Monday. Sorry for the confusion.
please let me know when this opens up for registration…..thanks
Would like to hear from some who went last year.
This was one of my favorite treks last year. The facilities are great: comfortable (two people to a room with bunk-beds); clean, hot showers; and the eco-friendly aspect is really interesting (loved the worm-composting tour). The staff is wonderful and friendly. And it’s gorgeous up there. Very cool at night, so a great way to escape the late summer heat. Oh, and the food is very good. Ask Jim Hawkins about the yoga that nearly killed him.
This trip was wonderful! The facilities were better than I expected with a beautiful view atop the mountain side. We had cool breezes in the evening that required a sweatshirt or fleece. The meals were excellent home-cooking though they totally accommodated my vegetarian diet with a tofu dish that had everyone reaching for the plate for “just one more” taste. Comfortable accommodations included hot showers and indoor toilets. Walk off the porch and you’re on the trail. It doesn’t get easier than that.
Are their still several spots open for this?
Yes, We still have about 10 spots available!
Hi- is this trip full yet? If not, are any women traveling alone to share a room with?
Thanks!
Can you share details of location and time we will depart on Saturday morning? I have to make arrangements to board my dog and need to know if I will have to do that Fri or Sat. Looking forward to this getaway.
Like Kristina I would like to know if the trip is full. I am interested in going and would be going alone so would like to meet up with her.
We still have one spot open.
