Team Green Adventures was established by Lightning 100 (WRLT 100.1 FM) in 1996 as a way to get our listeners involved in an active lifestyle. Since then, our audience has expanded to other cities and states, with members across the Nation and events across the Globe! Garden of the Gods Day Trip

Join us for a day trip to the Shawnee National Forest where we will explore the Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois. Climb around on huge rock formations (like a giant playground) and enjoy the views of the Shawnee.
On the way, we will stop at an Amish store where you can buy homemade food items and Amish made wares. Then we will take a ferry across the Ohio River to Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. When we arrive at Garden of the Gods, we will have lunch on the rocks, explore the park, and hike Pounds Hollow. We will stop for dinner on the way home.
This is a good trip for beginners levels. Dogs not recommended due to the rough terrain. Children are welcome.
This is a FREE trip, but bring money for gas and dinner.
We will meet up Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30am. Meet at the Opry Mills parking lot, between the mall and the hotel … near the sidewalk that leads to the hotel (which is also near the big rock that was once a part of Opryland’s river ride).
We probably won’t arrive back in Nashville until around 9pm. so we recommend staying for the entire day rather than rushing back to Nashville. The drive is about three hours each way.
What to Bring
Lunch, water, snacks, gas money, money for dinner, camera.
