Charit Creek Lodge Weekend

Details

When

Saturday, March 15 to Sunday, March 16

This Trip is Booked! To get on the waiting list, email Team Green

Join Team Green for a weekend getaway to Big South Fork (BSF) staying at the lovely Charit Creek Lodge Saturday night.

The trip includes hotel in the lodge (bed and linens included), 2 luscious homecooked, hearty meals (dinner and breakfast), and activities in the heart of the wilderness. The lodge has showers and restroom facilities. Charit Creek lodge is peacefully located near the Twin Arches formations at BSF, and is\only accessible by horseback or foot. Located where Charit Creek and Station Camp Creek meet, the lodge rests in a beautiful pasture framed by magnificent bluffs. This valley has given shelter to travelers in the Big South Fork since the Indian hunting camps.

Logistics

Team Green will carpool saturday morning to the trailhead and hike in, arriving just in time for lunch at the lodge. We will hike saturday afternoon, enjoy a true country dinner, sit back in the front porch rocker and see a sky full of stars, listen to the stream, and watch the firefly displays; no hum of machinery or bright electric lights to interfere. Sunday morning we will awake to birds on the brink of Spring and smell of fresh coffee on the stove. We will then hike some more after breakfast and head back to Nashville, arriving late afternoon.

Charit Creek was our favorite event of last year! Like going back to childhood (without the adult bosses) and pioneer days (without the work) all at once. A beautiful setting, gorgeous trails and rock formations, and everything by wood heat and oil lamps (no electricity, phone, radio, TV)! Hot Showers (solar powered) and full Hot Meals (they use propane), and like going back to Summer Camp, with a bunch of adults sleeping in a cabin full of double bunk beds. We also recommend a stop at the Highland Manor Winery on the way up.

P.S. DON’T take Hwy 297 East as the Charit Creek website says! That only takes you to the Visitor’s Center after miles and miles. You WILL have to turn around and go back to get to Charit Creek Lodge! You have to go farther north on 154. Several parties found this out the hard way last year. There are two maps on the website and you can see how to go from the zoomed-in map on the right.
