Who is Team Green?
Team Green Adventures was established by Lightning 100 (WRLT 100.1 FM) in 1996 as a way to get our listeners involved in an active lifestyle. Since then, our audience has expanded to other cities and states, with members across the Nation and events across the Globe! Through adventure we promote health, community service, and environmental awareness. Check out our calendar and pick the adventure that’s right for you!

BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE TRIP
Details
When
August 7-15th
Join Team Green on a week of canoe camping in the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWACW) on the Minnesota / Canada Border. Spend 7 days on the water and 6 nights camping! Our route will take us from Mudro Lake (entry point 22) up through Crooked Lake, Lake la Croix, and eventually exiting through the Nina-Moose River. The route will take us past Native American pictographs, spectacular waterfalls, breathtaking views, and some of the best fishing in BWCAW.

Traveling
The area is littered with glacial lakes connected by gently flowing streams that are easy to paddle up or down. There are portages to get around any rapids or to let you get between unconnected lakes. Because you walk around any white water, we use kevlar canoes (about 40 lbs.) which make portaging much more enjoyable!
Camping
Because of the size of the campsites, groups are restricted to 8-9 people. If we have enough interest we will have 2 groups for a total size of 16. Each campsite has a fire ring and a ranger box (located within walking distance but far enough away for privacy) – other than that, you are truly roughing it. Because of the low density of people, gathering firewood is never really a problem. The water is about as pristine as you will find anywhere in the US (I have friends who will drink straight out of the big lakes) but you still have to have water filters, iodine pills, or boil it.
Outfitting includes everything except clothes/personal gear and a sleeping bag.

Former Team Greener, I’m already half way there, near Chicago! Let me know who’s going and I might be able to make it, too.
I heard about this on Lightning 100 and it brought back some great memories. I attended summer camp in Bemidji, MN, and was fortunate enough to take a 5 day canoe trip on the boundary waters. I highly recommend this trip! I consider this trip one of the ’1000 Things To Do Before You Die’ items. I do have one important tip…don’t forget the mosquito repellent. If you have never been to Minnesota, their mosquito’s have FAA numbers on them. LOL! You will get chewed up. I hope everyone has as much fun as I had when I was a kid. You won’t regret it.
Does anyone want to consider driving from Nashville? Driving offers the chance to take items that cannot/should not be transported by the airlines. Expensive fishing gear, exotic canoe paddles, delicate/expensive outdoor electronics or optics are too easily lost or damaged by airline travel. I have a long bed Toyota with a camper top and could take 1 or 2 extra passengers and gear. Depending on airfare and how many people ride together, it may also be cheaper. Send me an e-mail if interested.
